The Epidemiology Section consists of one veterinary public health specialist and a civilian coder/abstractionist. Epidemiology assists veterinarians by gleaning information from records to try to find trends in illness/injury or assist in data collection design to look at surveillance of specific agents or conditions. The section also tracks dog deaths and cause for an annual congressional report required each calendar year.
DoDMWDVS epidemiology is working with Public Health Command-South and Lackland AFB to look into Chagas disease in working dogs.
