Mission:

Prevent and control zoonotic, food-borne and other transmissible diseases in humans and animals through preventive care, animal/handler/owner education, animal medical treatment and inspection of food sources and packaged products.

Services:

•        Deliver complete veterinary medical, surgical, and dental healthcare to DOD and other Government Owned Animals (GOAs)

–       Military working dogs (MWD) – maintain essential components of Soldier safety/ security

–       Privately owned pets – support the Army Family Covenant

•        Provide full spectrum food safety and defense support throughout the DoD

–       Audit commercial food sources and packaged rations

–       Risk assessment for special events/facilities

–       Navy ship on-board food inspectors

–       Manage food and over-the-counter drug recalls

Promulgate command policies, directives and guidance; provide reach-back technical support for Iraq and Afghanistan AORs, other FORSCOM and TRADOC entities
