The Diagnostic Imaging Section provides medicine and surgery sections with high-quality imagery assisting clinicians with diagnosis and treatment plans. The section performs over 100 studies each month. Personnel include two radiologists
and two technicians.
The section employs a state-of-the-art 64-slice computed tomography machine which is capable of rendering 3-D reconstructions; digital radiography precluding use of film and developing fluids; and color Doppler ultrasound allowing for echocardiograms, abdominal visualization as well as ocular and musculoskeletal structures, and guided percutaneous biopsies. At present MRI and nuclear scintigraphy studies are conducted at Wilford Hall Medical Center on Lackland Air Force Base when required.
