Genetic and Cellular Toxicology 

The APHC Toxicology Portfolio uses a wide array of in vivo and in vitro assays for cell-based safety assessments, genetic toxicology, and cellular toxicology.  Micronucleus and comet assays, Ames assay, polymerase chain reaction, neutral red uptake, Microtox acute toxicity test, and metabolic fate in human liver tissues are only a few of the techniques we regularly employ.

We are also able to develop new in vitro techniques and methodologies to meet our customers’ needs.  For example, we are currently developing and validating Precision Organ Slice (POS) technologies, which are effective, rapid, and low cost methods of exposing living tissue to chemicals for toxicity assessments. The Toxicology Portfolio has also contributed to the development of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Avian Two-Generation Toxicity Test in the Japanese Quail (JQTT), OCSPP Test Guideline 890.2100, which is one of the new Endocrine Disrupting Screening Program's Tier 2 test guidelines.
