DoDMWDVS Section-Epidemiology

NOTE:   PHCR-South has merged with other Public Health Commands.

  • Technical services are now aligned under Public Health Command-Central (Provisional).
  • Fort Gordon district transitioned to Public Health Command-Atlantic (Provisional).
  • The information here is provided as a courtesy and may not be up-to-date.

The Epidemiology Section consists of one veterinary public health specialist external link and a civilian coder/abstractionist. Epidemiology assists veterinarians by gleaning information from records to try to find trends in illness/injury or assist in data collection design to look at surveillance of specific agents or conditions. The section also tracks dog deaths and cause for an annual congressional report required each calendar year.

DoDMWDVS epidemiology is working with Public Health Command-South and Lackland AFB to look into Chagas disease in working dogs.
