This waste management workshop will cover multi-agency regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical waste management generated within the CONUS military healthcare facility (HCF), address current waste management disposal issues, and detail upcoming regulatory and future challenges. This workshop requires a background working knowledge of hazardous waste (HW) and regulated medical waste (RMW) management.
Purpose: To reduce risks and hazards associated with pharmaceutical management within the military HCF, to include veterinary services and dental activities. The training is designed to provide regulatory and procedural knowledge, discuss options and upcoming regulatory changes, address current issues, and reduce the number of environmental health compliance findings involving pharmaceutical waste management.
At the end of this workshop, the attendee will be able to:
1) Understand key regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical waste management.
2) Explain how to properly classify, segregate, accumulate, store, transport, and dispose of various pharmaceutical waste streams.
