This online module is provided using Blackboard and is designed to provide knowledge of the basic concepts that an
Industrial Hygienist must be aware of while conducting assistance with, baseline, or periodic surveys in areas with permit required confined spaces. The module also helps students recognize and record occupational health hazard data in the DOEHRS-IH data repository, and make appropriate recommendations for this similar exposure group. This module is designed for industrial hygiene,
occupational health and safety professionals.
This online module is provided using Blackboard and gives participants knowledge of the basic concepts and use of the DoD Exposure Assessment Model for Confined Space Common Processes. The module also helps students recognize and record occupational health hazard data in the DOEHRS-IH data repository, and make appropriate recommendations for this similar exposure group. This web-based class will present an opportunity for student to learn important knowledge and skills in statistics are both part of the Defense Occupational
Environmental Health Readiness System used by all Industrial Hygiene staff members.
Upon completion of this module students should be able to demonstrate the ability to recognize and record hazards and controls for the Confined Space Similar Exposure Group (SEG) in the Defense Occupational and Environmental Readiness System – Industrial Hygiene, and recommend controls and medical surveillance for SEG members. The knowledge of industrial processes, workplace environments, potential occupational health hazards, workplace evaluation techniques, industrial hygiene procedures, and occupational health standards are directly aligned with the Industrial Hygiene competency: "Work Environments and Industrial Processes”.
This module develops attendee’s ability to apply study and observation methods to anticipate, recognize, evaluate and control potential workplace health stressors.
