​The data presented in the above handout is from the 2016 Surveillance of Suicidal Behavior Publication (SSBP) which was released in December 2017. The SSBP, published annually, describes the characteristics of Active Army Soldiers who engaged in suicidal behavior within the prior calendar year.
The 2016 SSBP reported 127 Active Army Soldiers died by suicide, 532 attempted suicide, and 1,470 had suicidal ideations. Please follow this link to view the full report and its supplemental documents: The Surveillance of Suicidal Behavior Publication (SSBP).
